New years resolutions

Hey all! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and rang in the new year just how you had hoped. I feel like today is a good day to post about the upcoming year, resolutions, and everything in between.

So for 2018, I have a few pretty lofty goals (at least to me they seem that way), and I call them goals because I never stick to resolutions. Let’s be honest, most of us don’t! First off, I want to compete in my first half marathon which is HUGE for me because I just had an invasive back surgery in June of 2017 but I was a runner before then so I think I can get back into the swing of things. It is the Glass City Half Marathon in Toledo, Ohio and I am super excited to run 13.1 miles. Crazy I know, but I have a super good feeling about getting back into shape and being able to compete. I’ll keep you all updated on my fitness and how things are coming along so look for a future blog post about going from a couch potato to a 5k!

My second goal is to pray more. No, I am not a devout Catholic by any means but I do believe in the power of prayer. It makes me feel better, have a more clear focus, a better mindset about life, and makes me feel stronger. Prayer can do a lot for the soul and I believe I have an old soul, so I like to add fuel to the fire that lives within me. I ordered a prayer journal/project from Target (find it here: and I am SUPER stoked to begin this! Let’s pray that the shipping gods are on my side and it really does show up by Thursday, or sooner would be cool. I feel that beginning this project is going to really help me clear my mind daily and make me feel better about myself and others.

Lastly, my third goal is to be more present. Meaning being on my phone less and being with those I’m surrounded by. I am guilty of being on my phone all too often like many of us are, but I love having it handy for taking pictures. I will still be on social media like Life with Lexi and Pinterest, but I plan on being off Facebook a little bit more. The best present is the presence of those around you and when you surround yourself with good, naturally good comes back to you tenfold.

Now, what are your new years resolutions? Share them with me! I would love to know what fuels your fire or what’s going to be getting you through your days, month, or year!

Anyways, I’m outta here. I got to work a half day and come home with the kids since they are still on Christmas break and currently, I am stuck watching reruns of spongebob. I know a lot of you parents can relate to that, especially us young mom’s where it’s like reliving our childhood because it’s what we used to watch  (at least I’m guilty of this). I’ll be working from home tomorrow as it’s the kids LAST day of break– finally! I’m ready for them to go back, I miss my “me” time. So, I will probably be MIA tomorrow but I hope you all have a fabulous day and are enjoying the new year already!

Cheers to 2018!

Xoxo, Lexi

  1. Love the no resolutions thing. That was my thoughts too. I never stick with it but definitely set some goals just around being the best version of me. Love this blog girl
