#WhatUpWednesday

Hey everyone! Well, we are halfway through the week so that means one day closer to Friday– yay! I know I was supposed to write a Grace not Perfection post yesterday but life and kids got the best of me and I was busy all night after work. Between dinner, laundry, showers, and taking care of the dogs, it was a long evening and I was more then ready for bed once the kids went to bed. So, I will be doing that post tomorrow and today I am introducing you all to #WhatUpWednesday! It is going to be a weekly post about what I like at the moment, what’s new, and anything exciting. I got the idea from one of my favorite bloggers and a fellow acquaintance (find her blog Savannah Said It here). She is my inspiration for all things blogging! If you’re reading this Savannah, your blog is one of the highlights of my day. So anyways, lets begin!

What I’m excited about

So, this weekend there is a 50/50 chance of a big ol’ snowstorm. I am praying it misses us because my hubby and I have plans for the Legion Crawl! Last year was the first year and it was an absolute blast! One of the Legion posts in Ohio we frequent rented a charter bus for the day and planned a whole day trip to 7 different Legion posts and it is going to be a fun-filled day with beer, friends, and food. I am spending Thursday & Friday nights making some dangerous Jello shots (and I call them dangerous because you can’t taste the liquor everybody says) for the bus ride throughout the day. Black cherry Jello with Fireball and raspberry Jello with Loopy vodka, which in my opinion is the only vodka worth drinking because it tastes like Fruit Loops. To say the least, I am VERY excited for Saturday so the rest of this week can just fly by anytime now. Besides that, I am excited for the next 5 days because it will be like a long weekend. Yes, I have to work Thursday and Friday but each night I get to come home from work and veg in sweats and a sports bra with my dogs– the perfect night. Of course, I enjoy the time with my husband, too!

What I’m listening to

Currently, I am slightly obsessed with Thomas Rhett. He isn’t just good looking, but man can that boy sing! He has the best music out right now and I can relate to every love song he sings. Of course some of them are sappy love songs but he has some pretty good dancin’ music, too. His newest CD “Life Changes” has been on repeat in my truck since I got it for Christmas (get the album here). My kids are getting tired of it but I could constantly listen to Marry Me and Drink a Little Beer (featuring his dad, country star Rhett Akins).

What I’m Reading

I usually place a Barnes & Noble order about every 2 months because I fly through books. I prefer history, fiction, and non-fiction just to name a few, and Danielle Steele is my number one favorite author. This time though, my favorite read at the moment is Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. What makes it so intriguing is that it is based upon a true-life scandal back around the 1940’s. I’m a sucker for murder and scandal books, especially true-life stories. This book is drawing me in already and I’m only a couple chapters in. Check it out and other good reads here on barnesandnoble.com.

What else I’m excited about

I have a lot of downtime at work in between doing billing and answering the phone, so I become a Pinterest junkie. I am currently obsessed with the following items:

  • My Rockin’ the crock board for all the yummiest crockpot recipes. I have 6 crockpots (I know, a bit much but they all get used!) and they are my go to for days we have the kids because feeding a family of 5 is a handful when trying to do all the cooking after a long day at work. Having all the work done for you and just having to make sides and/or biscuits is so easy and honestly, food is always better in the crockpot because it makes for good leftovers.
  • My Get Fit board for all the yummy smoothie recipes and running tips. Since I want to do a half marathon in April and I haven’t ran in about a year, I need all the tips I can get to get back into shape. I’ve never had a great mile time but it’s not about how fast you go, it’s about how far you go. Whether it is a mile or ten miles, every second counts. Every run is getting you to a better version of yourself that you can be proud of. The right diet goes hand in hand with getting fit. Smoothies are a quick, easy, healthy way to get all the nutrients you need. My favorite smoothie pin is from this website here. I usually use vanilla flavored protein powder in my smoothies along with fresh fruit and use that as a meal replacement because honestly, I let myself go after my surgery. I was depressed not being able to be independent for about 6 weeks because I hate depending on people. It was no bending, twisting, lifting, laundry, running, etc., and it was AWFUL. I had to use a walker for almost a month and I felt like I was 86, not 26. Now that I am fully healed (just periodic checkups with the surgeon), I am ready to get back in the saddle and get back into my pre-surgery jeans and my Get Fit board will help with that.
  • Currently, my favorite pin is this. See how you can better yourself today!

So tell me, what’s new & exciting in your lives?! Leave a comment below or leave a link to your favorite Pinterest board– I love checking out new boards!

I’ll be back tomorrow with a Grace not Perfection post because that book is becoming a new favorite quickly and I hope you all enjoy the inspiration as much as I do. Anyways, life is calling. Meaning dishes, laundry, showers– pretty much a repeat of last night. Remember, just 2 days left until the weekend, we can do this!

Enjoy the rest of your evening, loves!

Xoxo, Lexi
